Job Summary:
The Clinical Quality & Patient Safety Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and processes that ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality clinical care. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, internal quality standards, and best practice guidelines, while fostering a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement across all clinical services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management & Clinical Governance
- Develop and maintain a clinical quality management framework aligned with national regulations, accreditation standards, and company policies.
- Oversee the creation, review, and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation, patient records, and service delivery to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Monitor performance indicators and prepare quality reports for senior management.
2. Patient Safety
- Lead the development and implementation of patient safety initiatives to minimize risks and prevent adverse events.
- Manage incident reporting systems, investigate patient safety incidents, and coordinate root cause analyses (RCA).
- Develop corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans to address identified risks.
- Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and open communication regarding safety issues.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure all clinical practices comply with Ministry of Health regulations, professional licensing requirements, and telemedicine standards.
- Prepare for and facilitate external inspections, audits, and accreditation processes.
- Maintain updated knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and patient safety guidelines.
4. Training & Capacity Building
- Design and deliver training programs for clinical staff on quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
- Provide guidance and support to healthcare providers on adherence to best practice guidelines.
- Promote continuous professional development to improve clinical competency and quality outcomes.
5. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect and analyze clinical quality and safety data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on key quality and safety metrics.
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, or other healthcare-related field (required).
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Quality, Patient Safety, Public Health, or equivalent (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in clinical quality management, patient safety, or healthcare governance.
- Experience in telemedicine or digital health services is an advantage.
- Familiarity with national and international accreditation standards (e.g.,CBAHI, JCI).
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (PDSA, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and training facilitation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- High attention to detail and commitment to ethical practice.
