Plan and implement HSE policies and programs.

· Review existing policies and procedures.

· Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.

· Carry out and record regular safety checks and inspections;

· Prepare weekly and monthly HSE statistics reports;

· Assist in the implementation and update of the health, safety, and environmental plan;

· Carry out risk assessment and put up control measures (through safe work procedures, Job Safety Analysis, etc.);

· Coordinate tool-box talks;

· Coordinate safety committee activities;

· Raise and file of Permit-To-Work for non-routine/dangerous processes

· Enforce preventative measures.

· Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations.

· Investigate/record incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill-health

· Compile and analyse HSE statistics

· Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)

· Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes.

· Record and investigate accidents and incidents; perform Root Cause Analysis on HSE issues;

· Provide HSE induction, site-specific health, safety, and environmental training, and companywide HSE training;

· Work with HR to ensure proper onboarding of all new employees and old employees on a needs basis.

· Coordinate First Aid-related activities as the needs arise;

· Propose immediate correction of HSE deficiencies and check the effectiveness of proposed corrective action plans;

· Carry out HSE Audits at scheduled regularity

Other duties as assigned by the HSE Manager.

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a science-related field

· Willing to travel to different parts of the country

· Ability to work with little to no supervision

· NEBOSH IGC or its equivalent

· Minimum of two (2) years cognate experience in Occupational Health and Safety Management

· Experience with incident investigation, workplace inspection and job hazard analysis

· Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills

· Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as strong leadership skills

· In-depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA, Nigeria Factory Act (2004)) and procedures

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
