About the Role

The Head of Personal Banking Sales Network is an experienced sales professional who owns the retail sales distribution engine for personal banking. This is a network leadership role, not an individual selling role and you will be required to build, motivate and control a large independent contractor field force and the regional management layer above it. You will be measured on qualified customer acquisition and product penetration delivered at a defensible cost per unit.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end performance of the sales team: deliver the acquisition and transaction target through the field sales channel.
  • Own agent productivity: acquisitions per active agent per month, share of field agents performing 100% vs target, and time to first sale for new agents.
  • Own network health: active agent count, attrition, reactivation and coverage in priority cities
  • Design and maintain territory structure, prioritising penetration in priority cities.
  • Set recruitment targets for each city/cluster and ensure delivery versus the target.
  • Own cost per acquisition through the sales channel, including commission, incentive and field support.
  • Design commission and incentive structures that reward activated and transacting customers, not registrations.
  • Ensure full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Own the field sales performance routines: daily check-ins, weekly regional reviews, monthly business reviews.

Requirements

  • 10 - 15 years in field sales leadership, with at least 5 years leading regional sales leaders.
  • Direct experience running a distributed agent, agency or independent contractor network of significant scale.
  • Proven ownership of a commission or incentive scheme, including designing it and defending its cost.
  • Strong command of sales analytics: funnel conversion, productivity distribution, cohort based performance.
  • Strong people leadership skills: training, motivating and managing a large field sales team
  • Experience operating in financial services, telecoms, FMCG distribution or another high volume regulated or semi regulated industry.
  • Willingness to travel across regions regularly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in banking, payments or lending distribution in Nigeria.
  • Experience in building and scaling a field sales team
  • Familiarity with sales enablement tooling and CRM based territory management.

About You

  • You’re calm, objective, and grounded, even in high stakes situations.
  • You balance empathy with fairness and have strong judgment on what’s “right” versus what’s “easy.”
  • You communicate with clarity and confidence, building trust at every level.
  • You think systemically and you see patterns behind cases and design solutions that prevent recurrence.
  • You value compliance but see your role as enabling business success, not blocking it.

What Success Looks Like

  • Delivery against monthly and annual first transaction targets from the sales channel.
  • An implemented plan to increase agent output, featuring defined benchmarks and measurable tactical growth drivers.
  • Established field sales performance routines, including weekly and monthly reviews, executed against standardized templates with disciplined action tracking.
  • Optimized cost per new active customer, trending within the approved thresholds.
